The Girls Track and Field team won their first league title since 2015 on Tuesday night as they battled Talawanda to a tie. Gracelynn Durkin was named the SWOC Most Valuable Field Event Performer as she won the disc and placed 2nd in the shot.
Other 1st place finishers were: Jalyn Gribben in the shot, Natlie Kiefer with a meet record in the 1600, Carmen Kugler in the 400, and the 4x400 relay of Kugler, Evie Freel, Lydia Brinkman, and Layna Issler.
Other great performances were put in by Grace Kohls, Sam Pettinger, Madi Scudder, Kaylie Holbert, Charlotte Lewis, and Lana Connelly.
Also on Tuesday night, the Boys Track and Field team won their 1st league title since 1997 with a complete team performance from start to finish. Addisen Kohls was named the SWOC Runner of the Year and Josh Basich was named the Field Event Athlete of the Year on the strength of 1st place finishes in their events.
Other 1st Place finishes came from Cooper Ives in the long jump, Mason Richardson in the 400, Jayden Thompson with a meet record in the 800, Adrian Avent in the 200, the 4x800 of Addisen Kohls, Kyle Lill, Isaiah Delafield, and AJ Willis, the 4x200 relay of Zy Lee, Wyatt Warrington, Cooper Ives, and Jefferson Paguada, and the 4x400m relay of Thompson, Richardson, Avent, and Jacob Warren.
Other great performances came from Jacob Dearwester, RJ Toepfer, Grant Meibers, Jorden Thompson, James Kirby, and Mason Barnes.
Finally, congratulations to Coach Menze for earning SWOC Coach of the Year honors. Well deserved!
